Vacheron Constantin is launching a global watch competition for collectors this month, bringing the concept of Concours d’Élégance to the world of fine watchmaking. The Swiss watchmaker, in partnership with Phillips and Bacs & Russo, is hosting the Vacheron Constantin Concours d’Élégance Horlogère, a competition that will showcase both historical and contemporary pieces of haute horlogerie. The competition invites collectors and watch enthusiasts to submit their coveted Vacheron Constantin timepieces, launched between 1755 and 1999, for a chance to win seven prestigious awards across various categories. The competition is open to pocket watches and wristwatches, with exceptions for quartz watches, clocks, and heavily modified pieces. The seven categories include chiming mechanism, chronographs, astronomical complications, multiple complications, Chronomètre Royal, métiers d’art, and design. Each watch will be evaluated based on nine criteria: authenticity, elegance, rarity, impact on Vacheron Constantin’s history or watchmaking, provenance, technicality, métiers d’art, state of preservation, and emotional dimension. The jury, consisting of experts, designers, and historians from around the world, will decide the winners. The competition is open for submissions from January 19 to April 30, and the winners will be announced on November 10, following Phillips and Bacs & Russo’s fall auctions. This is a unique opportunity for collectors to showcase their Vacheron Constantin timepieces and compete for the ultimate bragging rights.
