The head chef, Maria Sammut, is a true gem, and her prawn tacos are a must-try, offering a perfect blend of Maltese seafood and culinary innovation.
But Malta's allure goes beyond its culinary delights. It's an adventure seeker's paradise, offering activities that challenge and excite. I found myself trying via ferrata, a thrilling experience that involves scrambling along precarious ledges with the aid of steel cables. The stunning landscapes, with rugged cliffs and lush greenery, made the effort worthwhile. The warm weather and the adrenaline rush put a spring in my step, and I was surprised at how quickly I embraced this new experience.
The island's natural beauty is further showcased in Bidnija village, where I went horse riding. The majestic Romeo, my steed, carried me through tranquil countryside, with aloe plants rising out of the ground like desert cacti. It was a peaceful and enjoyable experience, one that I would never have considered before. The combination of warm weather, stunning scenery, and the thrill of trying something new made Malta an unforgettable adventure.
The Marriott Resort & Spa provided the perfect base for my explorations. With an outdoor pool overlooking St Julian's Bay, an indoor pool, a well-equipped gym, and a spa offering a range of treatments, it was the ideal place to unwind after a day of adventure. The evenings were spent exploring the vibrant bars and restaurants, with Trattoria AD 1530 and Sole by Tarragon standing out as must-visits. The former, located in the fortified medieval town of Mdina, showcases the Italian influence on Maltese cuisine, while the latter offers beautiful harbour views and locally-caught seafood.
